Trobades de Barcelona - Memorial Jacques Henry 2025 (Working Sessions)

In this conference we will analyse the application of the European Union Directive 2024/1069 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of April 11, 2024. The Directive 2024/1069 responds to the concern of the States of the European Union for the abusive use of litigation as a tool of censorship and for the growing influence of private actors in the violation of fundamental rights, seeking to create a harmonized legal framework that guarantees the protection of free expression and public participation in the European Union.

Taking into consideration the historical and legal context in which this Directive is inserted is essential to understand its scope. The protection of fundamental rights against not only state but also private threats is a growing challenge in modern democracies. The influence of large corporations on public discourse and access to information requires legal tools that enable citizens and organizations to resist attempts at covert censorship.

El 14 de febrer de 2025, la seu de l'Il·lustre Col·legi de l'Advocacia de Barcelona acollirà les Trobades de Barcelona - Memorial Jacques Henry, organitzades pel Departament Internacional de l'ICAB, en col·laboració amb la FBE (Fédération des Barreaux d'Europe) sota el títol "Protecting public interest: Anti-SLAPP directive, right to information, transparency and human rights" i amb el següent contingut: 

• Expert insights on the Anti-SLAPP Directive strengthening transparency and protecting the right to information and Human Rights.
• Leadership in Action: Global Legal Associations advocating for Public interest and Freedom of information.
